Here’s a list our Frequently Asked Questions from our customers
MENUS/RECIPES
HOW DO YOU CREATE YOUR MENUS?
We begin by utilizing an outline we created to offer our customers a wide variety of ingredients, cuisines, and preparation methods as well as general categories such as chicken, beef, slow cooked, sandwich, kid friendly, and such. This comes out to about 25 categories. With all these categories in mind, our Chef Heather begins to create original recipes that reflect fresh seasonal ingredients, holidays, and customer requests we have received. We look at the cost for creating the recipe, nutrtional values and what the demand might be. After testing and analyzing the entire menu again and again, we make changes and eliminate the recipes that do not fit in the mix or need more work. We work on perfecting some recipes for up to 3 months. We end up with 13 or 14 of the best recipes representing the finest ingredients of the season at the best value to offer families. We release our menus mid-month for the next month so you can reserve your session early and put it into your monthly budget.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR RECIPES?
We find inspiration for our recipes everywhere. We research ingredients and new recipes tirelessly. Our recipes are created from scratch by Chef Heather.
CAN I REALLY FREEZE THIS: CHEESE, MILK, CREAM, PASTA,….ETC?
Yes, many of our customers have these questions. We carefully test all of our recipes to be sure that they are delicious and easy for you to prepare; but also that the freezing and thawing process will not damage the food. Indeed, there are many foods that simply do not freeze well; some just need extra care and preparation. For example, many vegetables such as potatoes need to be blanched prior to freezing. We take care of this for you.
DO YOUR MEALS FEED 4 OR 6? AND WHAT IF I ONLY NEED 2?
Each recipe is designed to serve between four and six; they all vary. In our menu descriptions we carefully describe the ingredients and portion size where possible; some recipes serve even more. The nutritional information also states how many servings the recipes were calculated on. Most chicken dishes have 6 breasts. Most roasts are 2 1/2 - 3 pounds. If you have specific questions about the exact portion on any recipe and you do not see the information in the description, just call or email us at kings@frozeninthyme.com.
If you only need 2 portions, we will split your portions as well when you order for an additional $5 flat. You may also purchase 1/2 portions (serving 2-3) from our inventory of freezer meals. Our Grab & Go menu items are packaged in servings of 2.
HOW DO YOU CALCULATE YOUR NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION?
We utilize a computer software program designed to calculate the nutritional values for recipes. This software has a bank of information on nearly every ingredient you can imagine. We can even create our own ingredients for anything that the program might not have. We work hard to get the most accurate result possible. We encourage our customers to utilize the nutritional values we provide as a guide to healthy living. We create our menus with families in mind. Not all of our recipes will fit into your diet. By providing you the basic information you can tailor most recipes to accommodate special diets and adjust your portion size.
DO YOU HAVE ANY LOW CARB OR ZONE RECIPES?
Most of our recipes are designed for families. We do not focus on any particular diet or weight loss program. We do offer nutritional values for our recipes with Weight Watcher Points. Our customers say this helps them make their selections with the whole family in mind and still adhere to their own diets by planning which meals to eat when and altering portions if necessary.
SOME OF YOUR RECIPES HAVE ALCOHOL IN THEM. CAN I SERVE THIS FOR MY FAMILY?
The alcohol we use in recipes is designed to enhance the flavor of the food. Most of the alcohol cooks out once exposed to heat. Alcohol evaporates at a lower temperature than water, and quicker. A cup of wine has less than 1/2 a teaspoon alcohol and once this is divided among all portions and cooked, the alcohol remaining is minimal. Every recipe that contains any alcohol is stated in the description.

HOW LONG CAN I STORE MY MEALS BEFORE I COOK THEM?
Your meals must be prepared or frozen once you get home. If you would like to prepare one of your meals right away we encourage you to cook your meals within 1 day stored in your refrigerator. Once frozen, we encourage you to cook your meals within 3 months. The quality of your frozen meals after this point is dependant on your freezer. Is is best to store your meals in a deep freeze or a freezer that you do not access a lot. Do not store meals on the freezer door; this is the warmest place in a freezer. Be sure not to pack your freezer with too much food. Air must have room to circulate freely between shelves.
DO I HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO COOK TO DO THIS?
Yes, you do need to have a basic knowledge of cooking. We do provide you general cooking directions on how to cook your meals with approximate cooking times. Once you arrive home in your kitchen and are preparing your meals you will still need to be able to gauge when the meal is done; especially with meats - everyone has individual taste on the doneness of their meat. Everyone's stove, oven, and grill are different and this is why our cooking times are approximate.
